Young Dancers Educations Society Y.D.E.S.
The Young Dancers Education Society, or more commonly referred to as the Y.D.E.S., are parents who wish to further their child’s opportunities for dance. Participation in the Y.D.E.S. can vary, depending on how much you want to be involved. As with any society, the more involvement, the more opportunities for dance, and for fundraising. There are numerous opportunities to raise funds through the Y.D.E.S.. Examples of events are a silent auction/pub night, 50/50 raffle, hotdog sale, bake sale, entertainment books, and Kingsway Mall points.
Points are awarded for participation in each fundraiser. The net profits from each fundraiser are divided by the number of points awarded and each point is given a money value. 7% of all profits are put into the general fund at Y.D.E.S. to pay for a variety of items, voted on by the members. All monies earned by members are put into their account and can be used to pay for anything associated with dance. They include competition fees, costumes, monthly fees, workshops, dance shoes, recital tickets, etc.
IMPACT is a group of dancers that want to participate more in dance. Just like Y.D.E.S., participation can vary, depending on how much you want to be involved. Children that want to join IMPACT will have to take 2 or more extra classes per month. There will be opportunities for some of the dancers to perform in Edmonton at a variety of events and some dancers will have the opportunity to travel, perform and take workshops with professional dancers. Every family that joins IMPACT must work a casino every 2 years. Monies from the casino pay for dance instruction, workshops, travel, etc.
Meetings are held monthly. Applications for membership will be posted on the Y.D.E.S. bulletin board. The cost of membership is $25.00 per family. A mailbox is available by the bulletin board for any comments or concerns that you wish the Y.D.E.S. to address. Names and phone numbers of the Y.D.E.S. executive will be posted shortly, along with the next meeting, and upcoming events.
