Asha Tomlinson
Asha has been dancing since the age of six in various disciplines, but her specialty is Hip Hop. She is excited to be sharing her passion with Dance Theme students.
More than a decade ago, Asha founded a hip hop dance company in her hometown of Toronto. Since it’s inception, the group has won many awards and several Black Magic dancers have been featured in music videos and commercials. Asha herself has appeared in numerous music videos and was a back-up dancer and choreographer for multiple-Juno award winner, Sonia Collymore.
She’s a former member of the Toronto Argonauts Dance Team. Asha is now wearing a different uniform dancing with the Edmonton Eskimos’ Cheer Team.
As the Co-Artistic Director of Edmonton’s Infusion dance group, she assisted in choreographing the opening performance for the Nelly Furtado concert at Capital Ex’s EdFest.
As well as teaching at private dance studios, Tomlinson also teaches an introductory hip hop dance course for the University of Alberta.
